What is
Formaldehyde is a colorless, strong-smelling chemical used as a preservative and antibacterial agent in some cosmetics. It can also be released by certain ingredients known as formaldehyde-releasers, such as DMDM hydantoin and quaternium-15.
It's known to be a potential carcinogen and may cause skin irritation or respiratory discomfort with frequent exposure. Formaldehyde has also been associated with allergic reactions, making it unsuitable for sensitive individuals.
